Earning Income from Being Employed to Being Self-Employed

How does one even begin with the idea of creating and running a self-employment venture - when you could be quite comfortable with where you are now. Assuming that - you are gainfully employed.

After all, many people have opted to join the employment force in the early part of their career.

Well, that may be because, it has always been easier to get started and earn income through employment, right?

Or is it not?

1. Being Employed

Employment is the most common avenue to earning income, in an economy that is thriving.

You just have to submit your resume - begin with a small position in a company, and voila, you could be rising to the top ranks.

Boom! You are on your way to becoming an important player in your workplace.

Besides, you have a stable income that you would be receiving every month. How could that not be so cool?

2. Marketing Yourself Like an Entrepreneur

Of course, that would depend on how you market (or promote) yourself in the company you work for.

Did you notice that we use the word “market” (or promote)?

Yes, even when you are a humble, simple, talented employee, you have to market yourself!

You have to think like an entrepreneur - in the sense that - you have to think like you are your own product. And you have to communicate yourself being a good product.

What that means is that how you project yourself with others - your co-workers and your bosses - can make a huge impact.

Are you assertive enough?

Do they know what you’re capable of doing? Or how you could help in the overall goals of the company?
Obviously, you could be earning some reasonable amount of money.

It may not be that substantial at the start, but you could get a promotion in time and receive salary increases.

3. Why Begin Self-Employment?

So, why bother leave the employment world and begin self-employment?

The thing is, you could also be competing with other workers in your workplace for promotion.

And the selection process for candidates for the next position could be overwhelming.

Besides, you very much like the idea of working on flexible hours. Not to mention, you will no longer have to deal with office politics, bossy co-workers, and power-obsessed bosses.

The bottom line is the big word - F-R-E-E-D-O-M.

You, typically, decide on what you want to do, how you want to do it, how often, and when.

In other words, you are in charge!
